Messy Fun at Rose Fair

Messy Church set up outside the Queen Mary Centre during the big Saturday Rose Fair event last week. A craft gazebo and bouncy castle were on offer as well as a puppet show. Despite the torrential showers that most managed to dodge, the event was a success and saw many new connections made with many good conversations about Messy Church. The puppet show was a huge success, performing to an audience of about 60 people who were all quite receptive to the gospel message and Bible stories and sings being performed.

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way. If we met you for the first time at the Rose Fair - we hoe you had fun and we look forward to seeing you at Messy Church in September.

India Missions Evening

On Wednesday night Patrick Jonhstone spoke about his recent missionary trip to North-East India. Providing a fascinating world-wide overview of missionary work in the current global climate as well as predicting future problem areas and opportunities for growth, Patrick gave encouragement to the church to engage in mission on a wider scale. He also spoke about his trip as well as some of the people he encountered there and what his visit achieved.

There was time for us to sample some Indian food half way through the presentation. There was also opportunity to ask questions.

Thank you to all who came and to Patrick for an enjoyable and educational evening.

Messy Church Special Offering

Messy Church Special Offering.
A reminder that this Sunday (tomorrow) we will be having a special offering specifically for the work and ministry of Messy Church that is launching in January 2016. It is hoped Messy Church will be an outreach to families in our community who currently do not go to a church, or know Jesus.

Activities include: tea & coffee; crafts where a Bible theme is explored; a celebration time of teaching, singing and prayer; sharing of a hot meal together. There are also advertising and training costs.

We estimate it will cost £2500 to run Messy Church for a year. So if you are able to contribute in any way it will be greatly appreciated.

Even if you are not wanting to get involved with the running of Messy Church directly, this is the perfect opportunity for you to support this new initiative.

If you are unable to come to church tomorrow, you can give safely online via our website. Just remember to say in the 'donation message' that the donation is for Messy Church: http://www.kingswisbech.org.uk/giving.htm

Thank you.

Roger Stephens and J Nam

It was good to have Roger Stephens and J Nam from the missionary organisation OMF as our guest speakers on Sunday. We heard about the situation in Japan and how their ideas of God and religion is very different from our own in the West. It was encouraging to hear various stories of lives being transformed by the gospel and by people from all nations coming into a relationship with Jesus.

Having previously worked amongst the Japanese people in Japan, Roger Stephens and J Nam are now working with Japanese people living in Cambridge.

Roger spoke about the challenges faced by missionaries as well as the benefits. One of the main points he stated is that even where we live, even in Wisbech, we can still be missionaries. Wether it is inviting someone into our home for a cup of tea, befriending someone who has moved to the area from a different country, offering practical help to those in need, no matter the nationality: We can demonstrate Jesus and hopefully have a chance to tell them about the gospel that gives us so much hope and joy.
