Libby Redman playing After Hours Live in February

After Hours Live is back on Friday 5th February with the immensely talented Soul and Gospel singer Libby Redman. Libby will be travelling down from Liverpool to be with us at After Hours Live in February. Growing up with a love for music and wearing out toy microphones, Libby first performed one of her own gospel songs on stage at the age of 11. Writing music and lyrics is as natural to her as singing.

Described on Premier Gospel as ‘a gospel singing sensation’, her voice is powerful and emotionally stirring as it spills out from her core, powerfully articulating a range of life experiences that express faith, hope and love.

Libby produced her soulful new album, SO GOOD, which was released in November 2015. Recently nominated by Pure M Awards as Best UK Act whilst touring the UK & Europe, Libby continues to develop her distinctive sound.

Prophetic Worship Workshop and Evening Service

Angie Lendon, songwriter and worship leader from Revive Church in Hull, travelled down to Wisbech on Saturday to hold a prophetic workshop with our church band. Everyone was very receptive to what she brought and were stretched to step out in courage and respond to what the Holy Spirit was doing and where He was leading amongst us. She gave many practical tips and suggestions as well as provided opportunities to put them into practise.

Saturday evening saw our band joining with Angie for an evening of prophetic worship. Here the band flowed from known songs into spontaneous times of singing and playing. Angie also brought some prophetic words and sung over a few people. Someone was also healed when the clarinet was played over them (no words at all!).

On Sunday, when the whole church gathered together, the time of worship was extremely powerful. As the band continued to flow and use what they learnt from the previous day, the congregation responded very well and the Holy Spirit was very evident amongst us.

God is alive and moving powerfully amongst us!

Contemporary Christmas Carols

The evening of Contemporary Christmas Carols hosted by Wisbech Churches Together with The King's Church, Wisbech in aid of the Refugee Fundraising Appeal happened on Saturday. The Queen Mary Centre in Wisbech came alive with rousing music - some familiar Christmas Carols alongside more contemporary Christmas worship songs which were enjoyed by all. Video clips of the Christmas story set within a modern context punctuated the music. Just before the interval, there was a moment to pause and pray for those caught up in the refugee crisis in Europe with prayer stations to help bring a focus to our prayers.

During the interval there were tea, coffee, mince pies, a variety of items needed in the Calais 'Jungle' Camp in France posted on an Amazon Wish List and some needlework crafts on sale to help raise funds for the appeal. A total of £247.36 was raised at the event that will be shared between the Hope For Calais Amazon wish list and the Christian Aid emergency appeal.

Thank you to everyone who attended.

Our gang at the Big Church Day Out 2013

Some of The King's Church Wisbech gang enjoying themselves at the Big Church Day Out 2013

The second bank holiday weekend in May 2013 saw a group of 11 from The King's Church Wisbech pack their tents, sleeping bags, gas cookers and toilet roll into a few cars and head down to Wiston House in West Sussex  for two glorious days of friendship, sunshine and top-quality Christian music!

This was the first time a group from our church had attended the event that is growing from year to year. It features 3 stages that showcase Christian bands from around the world as well as the UK. There is also a fairground, archery, rock-wall climbing and a petting zoo for the kids. Ice-cream vans, a wide variety of food options in the food court, the Tearfund Tea Tent that serves as a music venue as well as a great place for a cream tea on the lawns.

As far as the top-quality Christian music goes, well we were spoilt for choice! Matt Redman, Hillsong Live, Jason Upton, Phil Wickham, Brenton Brown, Dave Bilbrough, Watato Children's Choir, King's Chamber Orchestra, Yazz, Amy Grant, and many more! We had a fantasic time worshipping with thousands of other from around the UK!

Good Vibe-rations at After Hours Live

Alan Vibes had the audience up and dancing the night away at After Hours Live on the 1st February 2013. Singing a variety of toe-tapping covers including UB40, Blues Brothers and Tom Jones numbers, it was a night to remember! The audieance were up an dancing during the first half of the evening after having drunk the fabulous beverages supplied by Octavia's Cafe. The second half of the evening saw Alan in 'entertainer' mode and treated the crowd to a superb impersonation of Tom Jones, complete with wig! People will be singing 'My, my, my Delailah . . .' for many days to come.
If you didn't make it to Alan Vibes' spot at After Hours Live this year, we are sure he will be back in 2014 - so make a date!
Friday 1st March sees our special guest Lozi B who hales from Berkshire. Her music and voice has a haunting, melodic tone and will probably give you goosebumps. She loves to make up songs on the spot, so who knows, if you come to this gig you may hear a unique song or 2 that haven't been heard before!
